Special Events Insurance for Non-Profits
Special Events Insurance is insurance for a one-time or a series of events that are outside of the usual course of activities or business of the insured organization.
These type of events may not be covered under the non-profit's Liability policy. These may include fundraisers, weddings, trade fairs, bike rallies, 5k runs, etc.
Who needs Event Insurance?
Event organizers, social service organizations, anyone renting space to host an event.
How will Event Insurance Protect a Non-Profit?
The Special Events policy will protect the non-profit organization purchaser (the "insured") from the risks of liabilities imposed by lawsuits and similar claims. It protects your non-profit in the event you are sued for damages or injuries.
Liability insurance is designed to offer specific protection against third party insurance claims, i.e., payment is not typically made to the insured, but rather to someone suffering loss as a result of your negligence.
In general, damage caused intentionally as well as contractual liability are not covered under liability insurance policies. When a claim is made, the insurance carrier has the duty (and right) to defend the insured non-profit. The legal costs of a defense normally do not affect policy limits unless the policy expressly states otherwise; this default rule is useful because defense costs tend to soar when cases go to trial.
Thank you so much for your time. You are so great at what you do and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it when people take pride in their work and do it well. Less money and more coverage… doesn’t get much better than that!
